Dear Bancroft Family,
The configuration of our access roads and parking areas presents a safety challenge at arrival and dismissal time. Safety, for both adult and children, always drives any decisions we make regarding drop-off and pick-up.  We need to be vigilant about following procedures to make these times as safe as possible. Please read the procedures below. I urge you to follow them carefully. I believe that they are well-thought out, and if followed, will ensure the safety of everyone. It is certainly not my intent to inconvenience anyone, but if a little inconvenience ensures safety, then we need to endure that inconvenience. Thank you so much for understanding. If you have any suggestions for improvement, please let me know.
Respectfully,
Francine Goldstein

We are greatly concerned about safety issues and thank you for your cooperation. The following procedures have been determined to provide the SAFEST environment for our children during drop-off and pick-up. Note: some procedures have changed, so please read below:
Â
The school driveway & circle is a NO Cell Phone ZONE
Â
Parent Drop-off
Where should I drop off my children?Â
- Please drop your child off at the Gazebo (not the path to playground), pull up to one of the three orange cones. This allows for drop-off of three cars at once (similar to pick-up) .
- Car drop-off is marked by cones.
- Children will follow the path to the school front entrance and then go to the playground or inside. School staff will be there to supervise the children crossing the large circle from 8:15 – 8:45 a.m. ONLY
- Do not let your child out at any other part of the circle as this is dangerous with cars entering and leaving the circle.
- Children must use disembark from their cars on the passenger side only.
- If your child needs extra time for drop-off, please park in a space along the driveway and walk your child to the gazebo. Please do not park in the small circle because it is both unsafe to back up there and it slows the drop-off procedure.
- Parents may not use the area near the portables for drop-off or pick-up. Please note: Only authorized vehicles may go beyond the entrance to the drop-off circle.
Â
When should my children arrive at school?
Arrival is between 8:15 and 8:40
- Children should not arrive earlier than 8:15 because there is no adult supervision before that time.
- Children arriving after classes have gone into the building should proceed directly into the school.
- There is no adult on duty at this time, so please walk your child into the school for safety reasons.
- Crossing the circle is extremely dangerous because buses may enter at any time and not see a small child crossing.
Â
Parent Pick-up
Where should I pick up my children?
- Please drive into the small circle to pick up your children.
- Parents who are picking up children should not park and walk to get their children. This creates an unsafe situation.
- Cars are not allowed beyond the entrance to the small circle.
Â
When should I pick up my children?
- Dismissal begins at 2:45.
- If you need to pick up your child right at 2:45, you should come at 2:30 to be one of the first in line for pick-up.Â
Note: parents should not park in the driveway and walk to pick up children as it is most unsafe to cross the driveway during dismissal time.
- If you are late to pick up your children, they will wait for you inside of the school.
Â
Important Points for Drop-off and Pick-up
- Please do not use your cell phone when you are dropping off or picking up. It can create an unsafe situation.
- Upon arrival, children must be ready to disembark from the car.Â
- Children should have backpacks in hand. Backpacks should not be in the trunk of the car.
- Children should have coats, hats, gloves, etc. on before arriving at the drop-off point.
Do not drive into the bus circle, 8:00 am-3:30 pm
